As a super visa holder, you should have a valid health insurance policy while in Canada. If your health insurance will expire before you leave Canada, you may need to renew or maintain your health insurance during your stay. Private health insurance must be valid for each entry to Canada.
Who can apply Health Insurance for Super visa ?
Eligibility
To be eligible for a super visa, you must have a host who:
- Relationship Requirements: Is your child or grandchild.
- Status in Canada:
- A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or registered Indian.
- Provides a copy of one of the following:
- Canadian citizenship document (and their spouse’s/common-law partner’s, if applicable).
- Permanent resident document (and their spouse’s/common-law partner’s, if applicable).
- Secure Certificate of Indian Status or Certificate of Indian Status (status card).
- Age & Residency: Is at least 18 years old and resides in Canada.
- Income: Meets or exceeds the minimum necessary income.
Your host must also sign a letter inviting you to Canada, which includes:
- A promise of financial support during your stay.
- A co-signer option for the host’s spouse or common-law partner if they are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Details about the family size used to calculate the minimum necessary income (including names and dates of birth).
Health insurance
Proof of health insurance is required from:
- A Canadian insurance company, or
- An approved insurance company outside Canada (more information will follow).
- Be valid for a minimum of 1 year from your entry date.
- Be fully paid or include a deposit for instalments (quotes are not accepted).
- Cover health care, hospitalization, and repatriation.
- Provide a minimum of $100,000 in emergency coverage.
